June 2022 Minutes


June 8, 2022

The meeting was called to order by Gary Sundstrom KE5JTL, President, at 7:00 pm.

Introductions: There were 21 members and 3 guests present.

Samantha Henley, Camden County Emergency Management Director, presented information about her office and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) Group. Ernie Venus WØLTC is also interested in getting the ARES Group up and running again. Samantha was with Benton County for four years and has information to leave with Gary Sundstrom that would allow us to mirror the Benton County efforts. The ARES Group should have the following FEMA Classes: IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800. The first class (IS100) will be at the EMA office on June 21st at 3 pm. If you are interested in attending, please let Ernie Venus know. Jack McGuire WJØTM will add this information to the webpage. Samantha will attend Field Day since that will be worth extra points for the EMA Director attending.

New Members: There were none.

Minutes: The minutes of the May 11, 2022 meeting as amended were passed.

Standing Committee Reports

REPEATER: Fred Groce KØFG reported that the 2 meter repeater was up and working on the way to the meeting and that the DMR repeater is working also.

TESTING LIAISON: Steve Bouck KDØSB reported that there will be testing tonight.

WEB PAGE: Jack McGuire WJØTM reported that the webpage has been updated with Ham Fests, agenda, etc.

POTA: There was nothing to report.

EMERGENCY NET: Ernie Venus WØLTC reported 1 check in on 146.730 at 10 am and 1 check in on 146.955 on Wednesday, June 8.

10 Meter Net: There were 19 check ins on 28.410 at 9 pm on Tuesdays in May 2022 (Larry Ciccinelli K3PTO).

2 METER NET: There were 50 check ins on 146.73 at 9 am on Saturdays in May (Larry Ciccinelli K3PTO).

June Net Ctrl: Steve Bouck KDØSB.There were 12 checkins Saturday, June 4

OLD BUSINESS: Buford Casebolt KFØEAO reported on Field Day preparations which will be held at the home of Terri Myers at 403 McNeil Drive in Climax Springs. Additional information and a map of the location were passed out to members. A sign up sheet was circulated so he knew the number of people to expect to prepare for refreshments, etc. Start time will be at noon on June 26 and ending at noon on June 27. There will be a lot of preparations that will need to be done before then. Set up will be at 10 am. He would like to keep at least one radio manned for the entire 24 hour period. The ARRL website has a section on Field Day with suggestions and a check list. If there are any questions, please contact Buford.

NEW BUSINESS: Gary Sundstrom received a request from the Camden County Library District (CCLD) to remove items from the building. The front radio room, DMR repeater and chairs can stay. Everything else must be removed by the end of July. The books at the front desk, the 6 meter beam, etc. need to be removed.

Sickness and Injuries: The following was reported: Cheryl Bland KDØEYQ stated that her Mother is not doing well; Mitzi Chase, wife of Dave Chase, is not doing well; Gary Fenstemaker does not drive anymore; and Bill Ott is in a care facility.

Ham Equipment for sale or swap: Fred Groce reported that he has items from Ray Myers available. Ernie Venus reported that Bill Otts son is selling a Kenwood GS50 and a Yaesu Walky for sale.

Announcements: Ralli Motar W9TPA asked about having Echolink on the 146.730 router. Fred Groce said that he had never gotten it to work. Ralli was given the ok to do it.
