AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MINUTES

August 10, 2022

The meeting was called to order by Gary Sundstrom KE5JTL, President, at 7:00 pm.

Introductions: There were 12 members and 2 guests present.

New Members: There were none.

Minutes: A motion to accept the minutes of the July 13, 2022 meeting as received was made by Fred Groce KØFG and seconded by Ernie Venis WØLTC. Motion passed.

Standing Committee Reports

REPEATER: Fred Groce KØFG reported that the 2-meter repeater is working fine, just need more people to use it. The DMR is working fine.

TESTING LIAISON: Steve Bouck KDØSB reported that last month one tested for Tech and General and passed. One is testing tonight. He will need two VE’s for testing.

WEB PAGE: Fred Groce KØFG reported that Jack McGuire WJØTM is not here tonight because he is meeting with old Army buddies. He needs more information for the webpage and that it is working fine.

POTA: Steve Eden KØSRE reported that the bands have not been very nice.

EMERGENCY NET: Ernie Venus WØLTC reported 2 check ins on 146.730 at 10 am and 2 check ins on 146.955 on Wednesday, August 10.

10 Meter Net: There were 17 check ins on 28.410 at 9 pm on Tuesdays in July 2022 (Larry Ciccinelli K3PTO). Larry stated that it would be nice to have more check ins.

2 METER NET: There were an unknown number of check ins on 146.73 at 9 am on Saturdays in July (Fred Groce KØFG).

August Net Control: Steve Frakes KAØSF

September Net Control: Jack McGuire WJØTM

October Net Control: Larry Ciccinelli K3PTO

November Net Control: Need a volunteer

December Net Control: Need a volunteer

OLD BUSINESS: Gary Sundstrom reported that the disposition of the club trailer has made a repeat appearance because of its use on Field Day. The club had previously voted to pass the trailer on to Ralli Motar W9TPA. Gary stated that we had voted to pass the trailer to Ralli and we needed to get the trailer to him. Buford Casebolt KFØEAO said that it was useful to have the trailer and air conditioning. It is in very good shape. Buford Casebolt made a motion that if the other individual is not interested that he will take responsibility for it and let the club use it whenever it has a need to. There was no second made. Arrangements will be made to contact Ralli Motar.

NEW BUSINESS: Gary Sundstrom KE5JTL discussed our use of this building. Either party to the Memorandum of Understanding for the use of the building may give a 30 day cease and desist notice for the tower and the rest of the facility.

Ernie Venus WØLTC reported that four people showed up for the ARES meeting and two for the training session this week. Information is on the Camden County Emergency Management website. Ernie stated that 11 people had signed up for ARES. Ernie also reported that Samantha Henley wants help from ARES members to work the radios for the Camden County Emergency Response Team (CERT) members for events like the Shootout. Training will be done via Webex.

Sickness and Injuries: There was none.

Ham Equipment for sale or swap: Fred Groce has a bunch of stuff and is having a trunk sale today. He also has a couple new antennas for sale. Ernie Venus has an ICOM VHF and a Kenwood HF TS50.

Announcements: Gary Sundstrom thanked Steve Bouck for taking care of things in his absence last month.

Fred Groce reported that there will be a St. Charles Hamfest in O’Fallon MO that he will be attending.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:28 pm.
