AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MINUTES
October 11, 2023
The meeting was called to order by Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO, President, at 7:15 pm.
Introductions: There were 17 members and two guests present.
New Members: There was none.
Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2023 meeting as received was made by Fred Groce KØFG and seconded by Bruce Bramon AEØIQ. Motion passed.
Standing Committee Reports
REPEATER: Fred Groce KØFG reported that the repeater is working fine.
TESTING LIAISON: Steve Bouck KDØSB reported that there will be no testing tonight.
WEB PAGE: Jack McGuire WJØTM reported that the web page is behind on a few things but will be updated.
POTA: Steve Eden KØSRE reported that next weekend, Friday the 20th to Sunday evening the 22nd is a Support Your Park event. There will be a bunch of folks out there for this. There is also a Solar Eclipse QSO party. There is information online to submit your log.
Emergency Net: There was no report given of check ins on 146.730 at 10 am and 146.955 at 10:10 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
10 Meter Net: There were 25 check ins on 28.410 at 9 pm on Tuesdays in September 2023 (Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO).
2 METER NET: There were 49 check ins on 146.73 at 9 am on Saturdays in September (Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO).
October Net Control: Dale Bland KEØYFL
November Net Control: Ron Campbell AEØJA
December Net Control: Dean Stoner KD1FUA
OLD BUSINESS:
The DMR repeater was discussed. Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO reported that there is a possibility of using the Spirit FM tower on Possum Hollow Road since he knows the owner. Emergency power is available there as well as internet. Their tower is 300 feet high.
Fred Groce KØFG reported that Ernie Venus WØLTC was checking on what coverage the KRMS tower has.
NEW BUSINESS:
Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO requested volunteers to be the nominating committee for the 2024 Officers. This information is required by our November meeting so that the new officers can be elected to office. The nominating committee will be Fred Groce KØFG, Frank Galinski NØLRG and Cheryl Bland KDØEYQ.
Sickness and Injuries: There was none.
Ham Equipment for sale or swap:
Fred Groce KØFG has some items that Ralli Mottar WØTPA is not using anymore if anyone is interested in them tonight. Otherwise, he will be taking them to Sedalia on Saturday.
Announcements:
A presentation on RFI/EMI and amateur radio was done by Steve Frakes KØSF tonight prior to our meeting.
It was reported that Ken at KRMS Radio would get a public service announcement regarding the club on the air if it was given to him two to three weeks in advance. Fred Groce KØFG said that having where and when our club meeting is would be a good idea and that KRMS Radio has been good to us.
It was also reported that our former Club House is still empty.
Dale Bland KEØYFL and Ron Campbell AEØJA will coordinate a location for the club’s Christmas party in December.
Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO requested suggestions for more tech talks before our January meeting be emailed to him.
A motion to adjourn was made by Fred Groce KØFG and seconded by Steve Frakes KØSF. Motion passed and meeting adjourned at 7:48 pm
