November 2021 Minutes

November 10, 2021

The meeting was called to order by Gary Sundstrom KE5JTL, President, at 7:00 pm.

Introductions: There were 16 members and 3 guests present for the meeting.

New Members: There were none.

Minutes: A motion to accept the minutes of the October 13, 2021 meeting as received was made by Jack McGuire WJ0TM and seconded by Bruce Bramon AE0IQ. Motion passed.

Standing Committee Reports

REPEATER:  Fred Groce K0FG reported that the repeater is working okay. The 2 meter from the trailer is here with Fred’s power supply, which he does want back. One can be brought from the trailer with an auto battery charger. An HF radio is still in the trailer. Whether to sell off the 75 amp and buy a smaller one will be discussed in January. Bruce Bramon AE0IQ is helping program the notices on the repeater. Scott Poest KB8KGU gave a 440 UHF update that everything is here at the building waiting to be hooked up.

TESTING LIAISON:  Steve Bouck KD0SB reported that one technician passed their test last Monday and that three will be testing tonight.

WEB PAGE:  Jack McGuire WJ0TM reported that the information received from Mrs. Sarah Jackson about her daughter Corrine using the Morse code resources from our webpage has been posted to the webpage. He has reached out to her but has not yet received a reply.

EMERGENCY NET:  Ernie Venus W0LTC reported that there were 4 check ins on146.73 at 10 am and 0 check-ins on 146.955 at 10:10 am on Wednesday, October 13. The controller is down on 146.955.

10 Meter Net:  There were 15 check ins on 28.410 at 9 pm on Tuesdays in October (Larry Ciccinelli K3PTO).

2 METER NET:  There were 44 check ins on 146.73 on Saturdays at 9 am in October (Larry Cicchinelli K3PTO).

OLD BUSINESS:  Jack McGuire gave an update on the options available for Field Day. He had sent out an email with several options that could be viable replacements for the camper. He was looking for under $500 multi use options. Options were discussed and this subject will be revisited in January.

Gary Sundstrom requested open nominations for officers from the floor. None were received. A motion to close nominations from the floor was made by Dale Bland and seconded by Jack McGuire. Motion passed. A motion to accept the current slate of officers was made by Fred Groce and seconded by Steve Eden KØSRE. Motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS:  Larry Ciccinelli reported that Al from Al’s Radio Service was here yesterday to install antennas. Three members were here yesterday to help. Larry also picked up the equipment/parts from Dave Chase. He said that there were a lot of books that he still needed to pick up. Larry has sorted those things and is in charge of everything as far as free or how much it will cost.

Jack McGuire suggested purchasing a refrigerator for the building, possibly one from Habitat for Humanity. This suggestion can be discussed next year.

Sickness and Injuries:  Dale Bland KE0YFL had reverse shoulder surgery on November 2. Eric Morse KI0RR had surgery. Gary Welsh N0RIJ had a bad day.

Ham Equipment for sale or swap:  There was none.


There will be no December meeting and the Christmas Party will be on Wednesday, December 15 at RJ’s Restaurant in Camdenton at 5:30 pm.

There will be no tech night on Wednesday, November 17. Possibly changing the day and time of the tech night will be discussed at a later date.

The next club meeting will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
